ABOUT OUR MATERIALS

How our worksheets are made

Understand what a worksheet practises, where its questions come from and what to check before using it.

Designed for a specific skill

Each worksheet focuses on a named skill and year group. Maths and English catalogues link to the relevant England curriculum requirements. These links explain the intended learning goal; they do not mean the Department for Education has approved Numihana.

Maths questions

Questions are produced from defined mathematical rules and number ranges, rather than copied from another publisher’s worksheets. The same calculation generates both the question and its answer key. The generator checks operations, fractions, written steps and topic constraints. Diagrams provide a representation of the task; learners should use the labelled measurements rather than assuming an illustration is drawn to scale.

English questions

Spelling, grammar and punctuation activities draw from explicit word forms, sentence patterns and short contexts. Spelling transformations use known forms rather than guessing an ending for any word. Some activities use statutory spelling lists and examples linked from their curriculum notes. Recognising or reconstructing a word is different from recalling it independently in writing.

Different questions and purposeful repetition

Making a new worksheet changes its question selection. A saved link preserves the settings needed to recreate that worksheet and its answer key. Maths number ranges and English word banks are finite, so a longer pack may revisit a word, pattern or calculation. Repetition can support practice, but it does not demonstrate that a child has mastered the topic.

Checks and limitations

Automated checks exercise question generation, answer rules and printing. They help detect errors but do not replace an adult checking the material for a particular learner. We do not claim independent educational approval, a complete assessment of English, or guaranteed curriculum mastery or examination results. Some activities cover only selected parts of a requirement; the coverage pages explain those boundaries.

Using and checking a worksheet

Read the learning goal, try a question and compare it with the answer key before assigning a sheet. You can adjust the question count or choose another activity if the reading, writing or calculation load is unsuitable. Worksheet handwriting is marked by an adult; automatic practice scores are informal feedback.

Corrections

Use the worksheet’s Report a problem link to identify a possible error. It attaches the worksheet settings so the question can be reproduced, without attaching a child’s profile or private working. We investigate reports and correct the relevant content or software. Saved links may preserve an older question edition; check the current topic page when choosing new practice.
